Designing Vector Graphics for the Laser Cutter is intended to help students at Oak Middle School who want to design vectors that will be engraved, scored, and/or cut on the laser cutter. This course teaches you how to use all of the important design tools in Gravit Designer, a free online 2D vector graphics program. It’s a free alternative to Adobe Illustrator, which is the professional standard for designing vector graphics.
Your design can also be sent to the vinyl cutter, but that also requires you to also complete the Designing Vector Graphics in Cricut Design Space course. That’s a much shorter course that teaches you how to use the software that controls the Cricut Maker vinyl cutter.
(If you want to make a decal on the vinyl cutter, this course is only necessary if you plan on creating an entirely new design. If you want to use graphics found online, just complete the Cricut course.)
